Alki Beach

Alki Beach is very beautiful, with sand so soft you could easily walk barefoot along the whole beach. There is a great view of the Seattle skyline from the beach. It’s where the original settlement of Seattle was until they moved to where downtown currently is. Apparently, Alki beach was made famous from a scene in Sleepless in Seattle. I guess it’s a movie I need to rewatch.

Spray Parks and Wading Pools

Jefferson Park

Wow, you guys. This is probably the best thing to do with kids in the summer in Seattle.

Seattle has so many spray parks and wading pools. It’s a great way to beat the heat. And they are free. Check out their website for times and locations. There are also many in the surrounding areas which you can see via their parks websites.

Probably my favorite is Angle Lake Park, which is actually located in the SeaTac community. It has lots of picnic shelters, shade, and a huge spray park. The only downside can be finding a parking spot when it’s busy. Then again, this can be the same issue for many of the other spray parks. If you go early though, like a little before the spray park opens, it never seems to be an issue. Luckily, the light rail does come close, just within a 10-minute walk if you don’t want to deal with parking.

Summer Activities for Kids in Seattle

There are a lot of awesome summer camps in Seattle but since I spent the budget for that on our dishwasher, I thought it would be fun to use the summer to get out and explore Seattle with our daughter.

I have a few ideas of what to do and where to go but I’m also looking for more ideas. Preferably things that are free or cheap. Please comment below or contact me if you have suggestions of posts you’d like to see.

The Ultimate French Press

I have this problem where I tend to break anything that’s even sort of fragile. In college, it was wine glasses. So I switched to plastic ones.

Now that I’m in my “adult years” it’s been glass french presses.

So I desperately searched for something unbreakable and found this amazing thing:

LINKYO French Press Coffee Maker - Easy Clean Stainless Steel Coffee Press, 34 ounce (1 Liter)

LINKYO French Press Coffee Maker

It’s a solid stainless steel french press, which makes it pretty much unbreakable. Its double walls help it to retain heat longer while being cool to the touch. The double filter system reduces sediment in your coffee. And my other favorite part is that it’s dishwasher safe. Perfect for making coffee concentrate. I highly recommend it. Especially if you’re as clumsy as me.

Halachic Infertility

Special warning: this post may contain information about periods and such that may make some quesy. If you are sensitive to such information, please don’t read on.

Back when we were originally having trouble getting pregnant with our first child, we suspected it was from halachic infertility. We received a lot of advice which ranged from sort of helpful to pretty useless.

A Letter to Myself (on Miscarriage)

** This is a letter I wrote to myself about what I would like to know before I experienced all my early miscarriages. Please keep in mind that each person will be different, and each miscarriage will be different. My main advice to you if you’ve experienced a miscarriage is advice that was given to me by a great friend. Think about what would help you to heal, and do that. Whatever it may be, and it may be several things. It could be anything but some examples are: a trip to visit a friend, seeing a therapist, or in my case: starting to work out, eating healthier, and writing a letter to myself. Also, open up and talk to your friends and family.

Minimal Hem Lengths

Being a tall woman can have its advantages, like being able to reach high objects and being ok with wearing flats instead of heels. But it also has its disadvantages like when it comes trying to buy clothes that fit, especially when shopping online.

This chart is my go-to reference whenever I am shopping online. Just wanted to share it here with all of you because it will make your life so much easier. Continue reading

Stitch Fix Update. Is it really that great?

Since my first Stitch Fix, I’ve received probably about 4 more. For my latest one, I posted a short youtube video of the unboxing. And after I tried everything on though, I realized I only really loved one of the items. Since this Fix had been waived the $20 styling fee, I decided to just return it all because I really wasn’t that happy with it.
