8 Nights in G-d’s Light, a Message of Hope During Hanukkah

Sometimes the world seems so dark and the future so bleak.

It feels like we are so small and the rest of the world will overlook every truth and everything we do right just to say we are wrong. They will side with our enemies. No matter how much pain and suffering they cause, no matter how horrible their true essence is.

But while I was feeling pretty down about this cold and depressing truth, I realized that Hanukkah is coming up. And I wonder, what it must have been like for the Jewish people who lived during that time.

Alternatives to Airbnb | Why You Should Use Another Vacation Rental Site

In a press release issued Monday, November 19, Airbnb announced that it is removing listings “in Israeli settlements in the occupied West Bank [Judea and Samaria] that are at the core of the dispute between Israelis and Palestinians.”

This only applies to Jewish communities, not Palestinian ones. While national conflicts exist all over the world, Airbnb chose to implement this very anti-semitic policy specifically.

What about the Palestine communities that Israeli citizens are not even allowed to enter?

How to Stay Warm When You’re Always Cold

Winter is on the way, with its cold hands of death and its dreary demeanor. While staying warm on the couch all day with a blanket and a warm cup of coffee sounds amazing, it is, unfortunately, not always possible. And as much as I’d like to crank the heater up to 75, my husband would not like that much and neither would our bank account.

Even if it’s not winter, I’m always cold. My toes, hands, nose. It’s ridiculous. I remember playing soccer as a kid and not being able to zip up my coat because my hands were so cold they were numb. So I thought I’d look into it a bit and see what suggestions are out there. Here are the best ones.

Netflix Hack for Family Movie Night

The days are getting shorter and the weather is getting colder. Family movie night has once again become a weekly thing in our house. Typically on Sundays when motivation is low.   If you’re like me, you will end up spending too much time on Netflix just looking for a perfect movie for family night. There is so much content on Netflix but the algorithm shows you what it thinks you want to watch. Which can occasionally make it difficult to navigate. Well, there’s a hack that will save you lots of time and help you find the right movie that the whole family can enjoy. Continue reading

I Quit Social Media & Don’t Feel Bad About It

If you know me well, you know how much of a love/hate relationship I have with social media. A while ago my husband and I both deactivated our accounts. He’s still off of social media and has actually permanently deleted it. But after 6 months I decided to get back on primarily because of this blog.

But something very amazing happened during those 6 months of no social media and I am really missing it. Let’s be honest, social media has a lot of benefits. It can be so great and useful to keep in touch with friends and family. I recently was finally able to reconnect with my best friend from grade school, somehow during our college days we lost touch. Without Facebook, reconnecting would not have been so easily possible.

It can also be a good tool to publicize your own unique creativity, whether that be a blog, photography, or whatever you’re into. But while it has some great benefits, it has so many downsides. And I’m starting to rethink it again.

Stitch Fix Modest Maternity Review

Received another Stitch Fix and this time I had a lot of requirements for the clothes they sent me. They needed to be modest (or the ability to wear a shirt underneath), comfy and something I can move around a lot in for my new job at a preschool aftercare program, and something that will grow with me a bit during this pregnancy.

If you aren’t familiar with Stitch Fix, it is a monthly clothing and jewelry subscription. They send you 5 items every month, you pay $20 and that $20 goes toward whatever you purchase from the box. Use this referral link to get your first box free, with no obligation.

Super Simple White Cupcakes with Chocolate Frosting

If you know me, every time I search for a recipe I include the word “easy” in that search.

These are some really easy and delicious white cupcakes with chocolate frosting that I made for my birthday (ok, mostly I made them because I’m a sugar addict, I didn’t need a good reason). They can easily be made pareve or dairy. I actually made them pareve this time and they were delicious.
